Two Days Till We Leave-Thanks to our sponsors!

Hello Friends and Family-

It's Thursday and we are gearing up for the trip down south. As most of you know, we are headed to The St. Francis Animal Sanctuary. We received an email Sunday requesting volunteers to help with the animals displaced by Hurricaine Katrina. We have been graciously loaned a laptop computer for the trip. The company who is letting us use it is called Meeting Tomorrow (www.meetingtomorrow.com). They ususally rent laptops and similar equipment, but they are loaning the laptop to us with no charge because we are using it for Katrina relief. We hope we will be able to use it to keep in touch with all of you, and offer the use of it to other volunteers at the Animal Sanctuary to keep in touch with their friends and family as well. Not to mention, it will come in great handy for finding resources, as no doubt, needs will arise. If you need a laptop at a moment's notice, don't hesitate to call them. They are wonderful people and didn't bat an eyelash at our request. They just jumped right in. These are the kinds of people who we should all be doing business with.

A couple of area pet supply stores, (ChowHound, Pet Supplies Plus), were very generous and donated food, cages, dishes, leashes, collars and other pet needs. My wonderful neighbors have already been donating items for us to take on the trip that will help care for the many animals who are in need. My homeopaths gave me a whole slew of remedies that will help treat the animals who are suffering grief, anxiety or just plain trauma. I'm sure those same remedies will come in handy for the volunteers as well. Another very kind animal lover who was at my homeopath's place gave me a sizeable check for the animals. We will use any money we receive to buy things that are needed at the sanctuary. There is a WalMart only 20 miles from there and it has power and is stocked and open 24 hours.

We are very excited about leaving Saturday. Tomorrow we will pack the rig and get all the loose ends tied up. Keep reading this blog to see what we are up to.

Take care and thanks to all for your donations, good thought and prayers.
