We're On
dear friends
if you read my last post (only an hour and a half ago) we had no place to go down south to help.
but, through gabby's persistence he got through all the red tape of online applications (with seemingly little hope of getting an urgent response) and found us a place to work at The University of Lousiana, Baton Rouge. they have turned the Parker Colliseum into a shelter for the Katrina animals. the head guy down there said we were the type of volunteers he was looking for. he also welcomes any of the donations we are able to bring.
so we are still slated to leave on saturday and hopefully arrive monday sometime. whew! i was afraid that wasn't going to come through for us. regardless if we had heard from anyone or not, gabby was very determined to head south and help someone with something. i was a little more insistent on having a "plan". but that's the difference between us. his amazingly huge heart got us a gig. seems like he is good at getting gigs! fancy that.
so, keep an eye on this blog to see what we are up to.
keep us in your good thoughts and be sure that we will do
whatever we can to help the animals in need.
and don't forget to contact your local shelters and humane societies to see if you can foster a pet, volunteer to help with the extra animal load or donate some funds!
thanks so much.
