Leaving Today
well, we should be able to roll out today. we had a little battery trouble and we might still have a little refrigerator trouble, but we are forging ahead anyway.
because of my dear friends, we have a trailer storage compartment filled with dog and cat food, treats, toys, towels, bowls and a bunch of other very useful items that we can take to help the animals. we also received donations of cash to make purchases for the animals if they need something when we get down there.
other dear friends gave us a gas card and a human care package to ease our wallets and give us nourishment while we are away from home. god sure smiled down on me when he gave me my wonderful friends.
when we contacted pet stores early last week, i found a very sweet and generous manager at pet supplies plus (near woodland mall) who wanted to personally donate items to help the animals displaced by katrina. when i met ashley, i was drawn to her and gave her a big hug. while i'm a hugger, i usually don't do it upon first meeting a person at a pet store. turns out...get this, ashley is the daughter of deb who is the director of gabby's dad's assisted living facility. can you believe it. gabby just learned of this yesterday. what a hoot. we always liked deb because she is so warm and loving and here is her daughter (just like her) making donations to our cause. small world huh?
if you have room in your home and heart to foster a katrina pet, do contact your local humane society or animal shelter. many are coming into our humane society in kent county and it's likely they are coming to your area too.
we hope you enjoy reading this blog. we will try to update it daily.
love to all
carol and gabby
